Sustainable Development

Define strategies to achieve sustainable buildings is a multidisciplinary approach to the project. A different approach should be adopted from the occupants to use efficiently a sustainable buildings.

"Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs"

Sustainable architecture

The concept of sustainable development or sustainable architecture is closely related to the relationship between the environment and man.
All the human activities has got an environment impact according to his nature and size.
The city, the neighborhoods, the buildings are the places where we live and work but also our footprint on the environment in terms of consumption, land use and pollution. Considering the population growth and consequently the ecological footprint is necessary to design and create for the people an access to the nature through direct contact with green spaces and structures built according to the principles of energy efficiency and the site characteristics.

Strategy sustainable architecture:

  • sustainable site
  • reduce Transport Impacts
  • highest standards of energy efficiency building envelope
  • use of passive solar energy
  • use of materials with low embodied energy
  • efficient use of water
  • minimise rainwater run-off
  • Reduce urban heat island effect
  • minimise electricallighting needs
  • renewable energy sources on site
  • ...

Sustainable development in the building

  • Low-energy-building

low energy building, energy efficiency, sustainable buildings

The design of buildings characterized by low energy consumption requires an attention and control of multiple factors that are involved in the relationship between the environmental issues and techniques aspect of construction and the economic feasibility of the investment. The aim is to enable the occupants of a buildings to improve their quality of life through comfortable environmental and healthy places to be in.

  • Standard Passivhaus

standard passivhaus, passive house, nearly zero energy building

The passive house guarantees high standards of indoor comfort with an extremely low energy consumption. Thanks to the high levels of thermal insulation, well insulated windows and ventilation with highly efficient energy recovery passive house does not need an active heating system and uses passive solar gains for its energy needs.

  • Renewable energy

renewable energy, sustainable development, renewable resources

The intensive use of hydrocarbons and the progressive increase of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere requires a revision of our energy model towards renewable sources that allow to produce energy close to the places of consumption (zero-kilometers) without a depletion of natural resources used as is the case with fossil fuels. The sun, wind, water, geothermal resources, biomass, tides, waves represent an alternative energy source.
